Bio:

Nathan Scheirer is a PhD student in Aerospace engineering at Iowa State University (ISU) working under Dr. Steve Holland. In 2017 Nathan earned a B.S degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University and he will be getting his master’s in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University in the summer of 2020 while continuing to progress towards his doctorate. His research at ISU and the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE) consists of investigating the viability of machine learning techniques on sonic infrared images (Sonic IR) and data related to vibro-thermography. He has also worked on developing a method for producing optimal composite fiber orientations for automated fiber placement manufacturing. He is currently working for Core Parts LLC on an SBIR contract from the Air Force dedicated to estimating crack size from sonic IR images.
