The aim of this project is to build a new X-ray system at CNDE that features X-ray scanning with simultaneous dual sources and dual detectors. The project will reconfigure existing components into a new and unique system, which will be capable of X-ray stereography and simultaneous dual-energy CT scanning. The new X-ray system will provide unique imaging capabilities, such as the ability to do three-dimensional studies of composites under dynamic loads. In addition, the project will re-establish a mutually beneficial link with the Center for Multiphase Flow Research and Education (CoMFRE), which operates an X-ray stereographic system located within the Mechanical Engineering department. The project will rely on and be a testbed for CNDE’s open-source Dataguzzler Python (DGPY) based system integration package.
Note: The final system will differ from the conceptual rendering shown.
