Ultrasonic Wave Behavior in CFRCs with Fiber Waviness

This project investigates ultrasonic bulk and guided wave propagation in carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRCs) with sinusoidal fiber waviness and resin variations. The research focuses on wave reflection, transmission, and dispersion through theoretical modeling, numerical simulations, and experimental validation. Advanced imaging techniques and ultrasonic measurements will be employed to quantify the fiber waviness in the material. By studying the effects of fiber waviness and resin-rich/poor regions, the goal is to better understand how waviness influences wave behavior and optimize CFRC performance. The results will enhance the design of high-performance materials for aerospace, automotive, and electronic applications, improving energy transfer, structural integrity, and material efficiency.
