X-Ray Model Evaluation and Review

This project has three components linked to CNDE’s X-ray modeling capabilities. XRSIM is a many-faceted X-ray model and simulation tool that has not been updated in more than a decade. A license for CIVA-RT will be purchased so its modeling and simulation capabilities can be evaluated and compared to XRSIM.

For the second component, CNDE’s Thor dual energy detector, which has been modeled in XRSIM, will be evaluated to quantify the advantages afforded by its dual energy x-ray binning capability.

The third piece of the project is to test CNDE’s Dexela X-ray imager using a Cs-137 gamma-ray source to quantify the detector efficiency when exposed to gamma rays and validate the gamma-ray model in XRSIM.
