The objective of this project is to develop laser UT inspection techniques for thin film applications. Many thin film applications now require an engineered porosity that allows fluid access to many parts of the thin film. This project focuses on using laser‐based ultrasound to evaluate porosity, wetting, and tortuosity of the films. The initial focus of the work is on battery applications and the outcomes are expected to enable in situ/in line evaluation, potentially leading to optimized process inputs for the manufacturing processes.
