Date of
Graduation: PhD, May 2010
College/Dept:
Materials Science and Engineering
Major Professors:
Drs. Stephen Holland and R. Bruce Thompson
Responsibilities:
Working on implementation of Vibrothermography (a.k.a. Sonic IR or
Thermosonics) in finding cracks, delaminations, etc. in real world
applications.
Current work
includes:
- measuring crack closure stress profiles
- determining the sources of heat generation in vibrating cracks
- investigations into slow dynamic behavior of materials
- fracture surface damage studies of vibrating cracks
- understanding repeatability and other critical issues to promote
widespread use of Vibrothermography as a fast, accurate inspection
tool in industry
