Daniel J.
Barnard is Assistant Engineer at the Center for Nondestructive
Evaluation and Assistant Scientist at the Ames Laboratory, USDOE.
He received a MS in Metallurgy from Iowa State University in 1995.
He has been active in NDE research since 1990, when he began as an
undergraduate research assistant at the Ames Laboratory,
participating primarily in research in linear and nonlinear acoustic
methods. Work at the Center for NDE involves the development and
testing of methods and equipment for characterizing damage in
composite materials and aero engine alloys. Activities at the Ames
Laboratory include destructive and nondestructive methods for
mechanical properties determination of metals, metal alloys and
ceramics. Prior to ISU, he was an engineering and projects manager
working in nuclear and fossil fueled power plant and refinery
construction.
