David A. Lilienthal of Iowa City is named the 2003 recipient of the
Center for Nondestructive Evaluation's Founder's Prize.
Lilienthal is a senior in Mechanical Engineering and will be
receiving the BS degree in December. After graduation, he plans to
seek employment as a manufacturing/NDE engineer in the Twin Cities
area.
The Founder's Prize is a monetary award that is given, based
on academic performance, to a student of at least junior standing
who has a declared minor in nondestructive evaluation. Lilienthal
was selected based upon his independent study in writing a
simulation program that predicts the response of ultrasonic waves to
defects in spot welds.
Funding for the Founder's Prize comes from CNDE, alumni,
friends, and industrial partners.
